About Carolien Corthouts

Carolien Corthouts is a Belgian artist working with printmaking in Switzerland. Through layered colour and the interplay of figuration and abstraction, her work explores our relationship with the natural world and with one another.
Born in Belgium, her creative journey has taken her through vibrant cultural centers like Geneva, San Francisco, London, and Wales, each leaving a distinct mark on her artistic vision. Today, she operates a well-equipped printmaking studio in Switzerland’s Linth area, between Lake Zurich and the Walensee lake.
Her work grows out of a deep appreciation for the natural world, from the quiet rhythm of a mountain trail to the intricate life hidden beneath the ocean’s surface. Encounters with coral reefs and marine ecosystems have sparked a particular fascination with the beauty and mystery of the sea. Recognizing it as a place of immense power and the origin of all life, she sees it as vital to create awareness of the need for its protection.
Travels and hikes also provide her with moments of inspiration, where landscapes, colors, and textures find their way back into her prints.
Carolien’s works are invitations: to pause, to feel, and to reflect.
